Can these files be imported or added to the I-Tunes library, and how?

Yes, they can.

Once you have the mp3 files stored on your computer, use iTunes command File/Add File to Library and navigate to the folder where the file is located. Select the file and click on Open. That's it

Repeat this for each file. You can actually select more than one file if you want, by holding down the CTRL key (on your keyboard) and clicking on each file in one folder.

To add a complete folder full of songs, use File/Add Folder to Library and navigate to the folder, select it (but don't go into it) and click on the Select Folder button. Be aware that if there are songs in that folder that are already in your Library, they will be added again and you will end up with duplicate entries for those songs. Use "add folder" with that caution firmly in your head.

If you have difficulty finding the songs in you Library after adding them, look in the Songs view, arrange the songs in the reverse Date Added order, and the most recent additions will be listed at the top of the list. Please ask if you have trouble using the recommended view.
