But the Apple official page does not mention anything about thunderbolt ports: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210642
This feature only works on macs with Thunderbolt 3 ports.
I could be wrong but in the Air family this means a 2018 model or later. Does your mac have Thunderbolt 3?
OK, my Macbook air is 2017 model and does not have thunderbolt ports.
