I just received my apple ipad air and have already forgotten my passcode, how can I delete everything and start anew?

I received an ipad air to help with my memory issues, and the 1st time I went to use it (just after setting it up) I had forgotten my passcode and am locked out now. Since I didn't have time to even download anything on it, I would like to just delete everything and start over. Can anyone help me with this?
