I have a Sony XBR93055E tv. Will Apple tv work on it?

Sony 2017 TVs do not support the Apple TV app or Apple AirPlay.

You will need an external HDMI-connected streaming device to run the Apple TV app ‘on’ your TV:

a supported Roku device, a supported Fire TV device, or a supported Apple TV set-top box.

If the TV has an HDMI input the Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K will work just fine.
