Changed Apple ID and now iCould on Mac does not match iCloud on iPhone

A couple of years ago I changed my Apple ID to my current email address. This is reflected on my iPhone when I go to iCloud, but when I go to the iCloud account on my old MAC, it has my OLD email address as the ID and it's asking for my password, which isn't valid any longer. I need to clean this up so that I can attempt to update the OS on my MAC.

Any ideas?

Did you try the current password?
