"Could not sign in to iMessage"

Hi there,


I recently changed my Apple ID password and was logged out of iMessage on my mac after changing my password on my iPhone.


Now, when entering the correct username and password on iMessage on my Mac, I'm given this error message.


I know that the password is correct because I literally just used it to login with my Apple ID to this forum, and yet I'm being thrown this error. The email is correct as is the password. Not sure how to rectify this. Any help is appreciated.
