Changing my apple id
My apple id is an email that i no longer use. If I change it can I delete the old email account?

If you change it, there will be no reason to delete it. See Change your Apple ID https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667.

Note that you can deactivate or delete an Apple ID account. Apple recommends doing the first for the obvious difference noted below.
