My son was playing Fortnite, and his iPad died and then wouldn’t turn back on. We charged it and just the Apple sign kept on blinking. My husband has an Apple laptop, and he tried to update it but it said his laptop wasn’t updated. What do I do now?

I have tried that, and still just shows a black screen with a blinking Apple sign. I will try again though. I have tried a few different things. One of the ways tells me to plug it into iTunes, which I have done to try and update it. What do you recommend holding down.
