I unchecked "Show Side Preview" in the view menu and the preview was then at the bottom. My intent was to be able to select messages without reading them so I dragged that divider to the bottom.
Now I want to restore the :Side Preview" and it will not come back. Even if I pull the divider up before checking the menu item, it will not come back.

I tried that. Pulling it back up does get it back when "show Side Preview" is not checked. However, when I select "Show Side Preview" with things in that state, it just goes away again.
It turns out that the side preview divider is invisible. I somehow got the cursor in the right place and was able to pull it over to open it again.
