How to setup new Mac with old account

Just purchased a new MacBook and I want to set my old one up for the kids to use for school.

I want to wipe it out & set it up completely for them.

When I was setting it up through Time Machine it didn't give me the option to make the new one "alpha", instead it just set it up as another computer using my account info.

The last time I changed computers and did this it wiped out everything from the cloud when I erased my old one.

How do I wipe it out without erasing everything off of my new one through the cloud?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Follow the instructions in this article: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac. Also, see Factory reset of your Mac - Apple Support.

To avoid loss of cloud data, before wiping the old computer be sure to sign it out of iCloud, disable Find My, sign out of Mail and any other accounts used on the old computer.
