Where on my Mac can I "hide" some documents that I do not want to sync to iCloud Drive.

I have some files on my Mac that I do NOT want to go up on iCloud Drive.

Where can I "hide" these files so that iCloud does not "see" them when it syncs the rest of my "Desktop and Documents?"

One promising location is the "Downloads" folder because iCloud ignores it. Any other ideas? (I regularly clean out my "Downloads" folder so I do not want to accidentally delete something precious.)

You can create a new folder directly under your Home folder. Open a Finder window, use the Finder "Go" menu and click Home, then Finder File menu > New Folder. Name it anything you want. Make it more convenient to access by dragging it to the Favorites section of the Finder sidebar.
