Where are my text messages after erasing my iPhone

Yes it’s backed up to iCloud, there’s enough storage place, I’ve reset it. Why can’t apple get this right???

Were the messages part of a backup or were you using messages in iCloud - Keep all your messages in iCloud - Apple Support? If it's the former, then you can restore from a backup which will restore the messages.

Yes they were backed bu by iCloud. I have all important things in the phone set to automatically back up so I wouldn’t go through this. It’s been 3 days and it still says “Downloading messages from iCloud” . It’s frustrating, I’m missing important texts. Smh.
