PLEASE HELP

Everytime I try to update my Mac OS it says 'it needs a restart'. (see screenshot atached) When I click 'restart', my Mac restarts but does nothing after that. I then go back to 'Update Now' at the Software Update box and the action repeats itself instead of doing something beyond restarting

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15
