So I am trying to clear up some space for my MBP and I found these files. Does anyone know what these files are and if I can delete them without any problems? The whole folder is about 25GB of files with random letters and numbers. Whenever I try to open a file, it comes up with an error.

Here you go: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

The location of the folder containing iOS device backups ought to be ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup but that's for Catalina. I believe it's the same for earlier macOS versions.

If you determine that backing up your iPhone is creating that folder in Documents then something is wrong that will need further investigation. Please write back if you have reason to believe that's happening.
