I have noticed that my 20" Early 2009 iMac has a mini display port. i was wondering if this is compatible with mini display port to hdmi?

You can use a Mini DisplayPort adapter for a HDMI display.

"Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to a 30-inch display (2560 by 1600 pixels) on an external display"
