OS update for MacBook Pro 15 (2010)

How can I change my operating system to one more current than High Sierra on my 2010 MacBook Pro 15? Is it going to become obsolete and I won't be able to use it? I just changed the battery and hard drive and it works great ..

That Mac model can't be upgraded past High Sierra; you can keep using it as you do now, but fewer new application versions will remain compatible with it over time..
