Tx... Because of Covid, I can't get an appointment to any of the 5 Apple Stores near me. Is Battery replacement ($$$) my only option?

If it is a battery issue then yes, it only makes sense replacing the battery is the only option (?)

Does not mean you have to do it today, you can wait until it totally fails if that suits you better.

PPT002 and PPT003

The battery will need to be replaced soon. It is functioning normally, but holds less charge than it did when it was new. Contact Apple or take your computer to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store to determine which service and support options are available.
