Unable to update with new operating system

I have a MAC 27 inch Mid 2010 computer. I am currently running High Sierra. I have not been able to upgrade to Catalina. Can you tell me why?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

Because you need a 2012 or newer Mac to support Metal graphics.
