Under iOS 12, you should open Settings, tap on your Apple ID name at the top, and then tap on iCloud. About in the middle of that page you will find "Find My iPhone". Tap on that, and switch the slider from On to Off. You will be prompted to enter your Apple ID password to confirm the setting.
