iMac OS

I erased my hard drive and tried to re-install the High Sierra OS ... it says "The recovery server could not be contacted." Now what do I do?

Depending on your computer's age one of the following needs to be done.

  1. Pre July 2011, find the original installer discs.
  2. Post July 2011, see first if you get anything with a command-R boot. If you get the same error message, you need to connect the machine to a network. The icon in the upper right may let you connect to your WiFi. Otherwise you need an ethernet cord from your computer to the modem to do the download.
