Can’t update my new iPad

My new iPad fifth generation will not update no matter how many times I punch in my passcode to do so, Can someone give me some tips how to get this thing updated? Thank you

Current is iPadOS 14.

If you’re on a reliable Wi-Fi connection and still cannot update, connect the iPad to a computer and try to update it that way.

What exactly happens when you type in your passcode?

Does it say its requesting the update?
