how can I delete an email that is trying to send using an old, non working email. I can't find a way to get rid of it. So when I click cancel to the password request, it just pops up again a minute later. I can't get rid of it.

Hi, welcome to the Apple Users Community.

Please try shift-command-m (⌘⇧M) while you have Mail open.

You can also check the View menu and scroll down to Show Mailbox List.

In this panel you should be able to see the Outbox, when you click on that box you should be able to delete the email.

Best of luck
