Heating problems after update

Hello. I have a Macbook Pro 2017 base model and after the latest OS Catalina update (10.15.7) my laptop is overheating even in stand by mode with no apps running. Sometimes fans start working at full speed even after the boot process and wont stop unless i shut down. Battery life is also worst after the update and at some points it looses 2-3 % in around 1 minute. Any suggestions? Thank you

Thank you so much for the reply Kappy. Problem is that I’m unfamiliar with technical issues and even if I see something wrong in activity monitor I would not recognise it.
