the previous owner needs to figure it out, otherwise the phone will be of no use.


he can try to look up his Apple ID here:

If you forgot your Apple ID - Apple Support


and once he figures that out, he can reset his password

The only help you can get in your situation is using the links I've provided.


From what I'm understanding, your iPhone is activation locked by the previous owner and the previous owner is unable to remove the activation lock or you do not have the ability to contact the previous owner.


If this is all true.. then what QuickTimeKirk is telling you is simply reality, even though that might be discouraging to you. Activation lock is an anti-theft feature that cannot be bypassed.
