I transferred everything from my iPhone 8 to 12 but the phone and text don’t work

Is the phone activated with a carrier? If this is a new phone, did you put the SIM from your old phone in it, or contact your carrier to activate the new SIM? Text messages, SMS, not iMessage, are also a carrier responsibility. You would need to speak to your carrier about that also.
