Trouble detecting displays Macbook Pro to iMac

I have an iMac 2017 and a Macbook Pro 2017, I'm trying to connect them via a Thunderbolt 3 but the displays are not detecting, I've tried to detect it manually using the detect displays button but nothing happens. The Thunderbolt works ok to charge the Macbook Pro. The iMac is on Big Sur and the Macbook on Catalina, I thought this could be the issue but I tried the cable on another Macbook running big sur and still no joy. Any ideas?

The 2017 iMac can't be used as a display.
