yes, of course i read that article.
my question dealt with the actual carrier, Verizon.
they do not have real people answering their phones, and the automated menus do not have any kind of option to learn how the company handles shared numbers (with apple watch for example).
eventually i was able to figure out that that service is not available with certain plans.
i found another, more transparent, carrier that solved my problem.
