TouchID doesn’t work after Big Sur upgrade - can't add fingerprints

Just upgraded to Big Sur 11.1. Touch ID no longer an option to wake computer out of sleep. Went to the System Prefs and tried to add a new finger print. Click the + and nothing happens. Removed existing finger print. the MacBook deleted it. Tried to add a new finger print — nothing. Did a restart — nothing. Seems like the update nuked all Touch ID capabilities.

I have also experienced the loss of fingerprint access on my MacBook Pro, since accepting the recent Apple upgrade to the Big Sur on December 15th 2020. This is particularly annoying as it forces one to continually enter the conventional typo password entry. I would imagine this is a basic Apple oversight and we will be notified shortly how to remedy this mini Gremlin......or is it another mutated version of the dreaded virus ?

Funny point is in this directory: system preferences -> Touch ID -> Unlocking your Mac , you can check the box, but if you open it again it will disappear!!!! it also has same problem for Apple Pay, but it's worst when it comes to iTunes, App Store and Apple Books. as you are even not able to check this box.

now I wish I had my Catalina back.

is there anyway to come back to the older version? this version is a disaster for me.

I have a MacBook Pro 2019 13-inch series
