Finder not working in OSX 10.11.6

My iMac is stuck in a loop of "Finder quit unexpectedly" error boxes. No matter how many times I click to get rid of them, they come right back. I can see my screen background images but can't see my hard drive or any of my files. Finder will NOT work. I have tried Terminal to remove the preferences file, but it says No such file exists. It is like Finder is no longer on the computer. I tried Safe Mode, no luck. I tried Activity Monitor but Finder does not show up in the list.

Am I at re-installing stage? Can you just re-install Finder for 10.11.6?

Finder is integrated into Mac OS so no you cannot install it by itself.

Question...have you attempted any troubleshooting such as restarting in Safe Mode or doing a NVRAM reset?
