Hi there, We are a droid family and (for a few different reasons) got our son an apple phone for Christmas. I (mom) was able to set up an AppleID on my PC. I am trying to set up his phone (without a phne Number ) so he can message with friends and long distance family. Is this possible? It seems impossible unless he has a phne number to the apple device
If it is a newly created account, I'm not sure you can do that anymore.
Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?
If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, however, you can unenroll for a period of two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require a higher level of security.

Does the account you created have 2 Factor Authentication enabled on it? That requires a phone number to get verification codes.
Yes, it has a 2 Factor Authentication. Can I disable that?
