macOS Big Sur - Unable to import photos from my Canon Rebel T7i

I can connect my camera to Photos and see a sample of photos available in my camera but once I click to import these new photos the process is done within less than a second but none of these files have been transfert ... I use a Mac Book Pro 2017 and my camera is a Canon Rebel T7i.

Cables were changed and camera set-up were verified. No issue there.

Transferts also fail on my two daughter's Mac Book Air 2020 (also newly updated to macOS Big Sur ...)

Any idea to solve this problem ?

Thanks

MacBook

Hello Yvente,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We understand that when you try to upload your photos from your Canon camera into iPhotos it goes through the process but none of the photos get transferred. We're happy to help!

Try using Image Capture to import the photos to your Mac.

Transfer images in Image Capture on Mac

Let us know if that worked for you.

Hello Yvente,

Thanks for trying Image Capture for us!

Let's try starting in safe mode and then try importing the photos in both applications that you've tried so far. Sometimes just starting in this mode and then restarting normally can resolve issues like this: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Let us know if that worked for you.

Thank you for your reply.

When I try with Image Capture I now have an error #9934.

I did a search about this error and it is mentioned that the read/write privilege of the destination folder must be selected.

I did this modification but I stil have an error #9934...

The following print-screen can show you (in french) the results on my MacBook Pro (lecture / écriture = read / write)

Here is my update:

I did the test using safe mode: unsuccessful results for both Photos or Image Capture.

Following instructions when safe mode is unsuccessful, I did a complete re-installation of macOS Big Sur: unsuccessful result s for both Photos (same initial problem) and Image Capture (same error #9934).

I have never get any problem using macOS Catalina ...

I did a request and I have instantly received a call from Apple ! Amazing service from Apple (in french as requested) !!!

I have first talk with a technician and then I have been transferred to a senior technician. He took his time to verify every things and every possibilities but at the end it look that the problem might be with Canon products since no update were done from them since macOS Big Sur 11.1 is available.

I did a request to Canon about the situation. I will keep updated the forum here about the problem (if the problem must be fixed by Canon or Apple).
