Attaching an external hard drive to a Mac book air

Most of the answers so far talk about plugging in a USB. While the cord that came with the LaCie does have a USB at one end, the MacBook Air has no USB ports. So I would like to get some info off the hard drive and put it back on my desktop.

You can use the following adapter to connect the drive to the USB-C ports on the MacBook Air: USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple
