Erase a device in Find My iPhone on iCloud.com - https://support.apple.com/guide/icloud/erase-your-device-mmfc0ef36f/icloud

Note that Activation Lock is still turned on and you will haave to remove the device from your devices list if you want it to be usable by another person.

iCloud: Manage your devices in Settings on iCloud.com

You can use Settings on iCloud.com to see a list of your devices—iOS devices (iOS 8 or later), Mac computers (OS X 10.10 or later), Apple TV (3rd generation or later), and Apple Watch—that are signed in to iCloud using the same Apple ID you use for iCloud.com. You can also mark your Apple Watch as missing, and remove a device you don’t have anymore.
