Apple watch pairing

hi, i cant pair my old watch to my new phone. i have tried several times and i get the same error now on both phones (old and new): Unable to check for update. i have tried force restart both watch and phones...what else can i try

Watch won’t pair with phone I have a series 3 Apple Watch that I have reset and I am trying to pair with my iPhone 11. Every time I try and pair the watch it says I need to update the software and then I get this error. I’m aways connected to the internet and the watch is on charge.
