How to customize Pages templates.

I was always disappointed that Pages always started a new document with 11 pt. text. I discovered that I could edit templates and now my new documents start with 14 pt. text. As I frequently use rulers to place objects and text boxes etc. I also turned on Show Rulers however new documents using my new Template did not display Rulers. Is it possible to have them always visible?

Pages v7.3 — v8.1 on High Sierra do not store ruler settings in templates, and you will have to show these via the View menu every time you open an existing, or new document. There is no preference setting that will always show Rulers.
