Why am I getting texts a few days after people send them?

A friend sent me a text and I received it 3 days after they sent it. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it?

Do a test. Can they phone you at the same time they send? It seems your phone (or their phone) is losing contact with your cell network for a few days.

If they can call you then talk to your cell provider.
