I never paid for AppleCare, yet my device is covered. Is there a glitch?

How can my device be covered for Apple Care, yet I never paid for it? I know there is a grace period to get Apple care when you first purchase a new Apple product. I would like to clear up this issue before my grace period is expired.

Did you get the phone from your carrier?


If so, you got it and if you are paying monthly, it is possibly covered with your payment. Check with your carrier.
