transferring photos from iPhone to mac computer

after importing your photos to the photos on my mac can i delete them from my phone or will it be deleted on my mac as well?

They would only be deleted on the Mac simultaneous to deleting them on the iPhone if you were using iCloud for Photos. Then change on one device is mirrored on the other devices.

I doubt you are using iCloud in this way because there is no need to import from your iPhone then.

So recheck your iCloud System Preferences on the Mac and re-confirm that the Photos box is unchecked there. If it is unchecked, deleting the images on your iPhone will not affect the images on your Mac.
