my MacBook Pro 2013 software version is 10.13.6. I need 10.14 or later to run some programs. My software says it's up to date. How do I update to the more recent versions?

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and depending on which MacBook Pro model you have, download Mojave, Catalina, or Big Sur through the links provided.
