Upgrade to OS Big Sur

I have a MacBook Air 2017 13" running MacOS Catalina. I cannot upgrade to Big Sur because I don't have enough storage. I have used all recommended ways to delete unused items to free up storage and still don't have enough. Where do I go from here?

It’s hard to say, because it’s not clear which recommendations you did follow. Already tried to move large files like your photolibrary to an external drive? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201517

Big Sur requires 35 GB of uninterrupted space.

This may be tricky on a computer with only 128 GB.

Both Photo and music libraries should be stored on two separate external storage devices before attempting just to migrate the user and settings if that's all you have. Otherwise you just won't have enough space for the migration if those are still on the machine.
