I don't remember my Apple ID password but can't change it without knowing the old one it seems. I'm totally lost for words. Does anyone know how I can change this password without knowing the old one, or shall I just throw away the iphone and change into an Android phone?

It will send a link to your Apple ID email address to reset the password. If you have 2 factor authentication you will have to enter the authentication code that is displayed on your device.

Thanks for the link! I tried it but I'm still being asked for the old password which I don't remember. There doesn't seem to be an option anywhere to change this password without knowing the old one. I probably need a new account then.

It seems you have forgotten your Apple ID password. If you go to https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid and follow the instructions there, that should help.
