apple pencil does not plug into my ipad
my 1st gen apple pencil does not plug into ipad, therefore I ca n ot get it to sync

an Apple pencil 1st gen is not compatible with an 11” iPad Pro. You need the newer one (2nd gen). it attaches and charges magnetically on the side of the iPad.
