Is there a way to retrieve deleted text messages from My iPhone ?

Before you even try, you need to see if you sync message with iCloud. Go to Settings > Your Name, Apple ID, iCloud, iTunes & App Store. Tap iCloud. Are messages turned on? If they are and you deleted messages they are gone and they will not be contained in a backup.

If Messages is not turned on and you have a backup from before you deleted the messages, you can restore from backup. But the post above saying anything you had on the phone after the backup was made will be gone includes text messages sent or received after the date of the backup.

But if you had messages turned on, there is no reason to restore from backup because the messages are gone.

Only from a backup - but then you will lose everything added to your phone since the backup was made.
