how do I log in as an Administrator?

Trying to install macOS Big Sur and it's asking that I log in as an Administrator. I'm putting in my user name and password but it's not working?? Can someone help?

It's asking for the pw on your Mac, not the pw for Apple

It sounds like your user isn't allowed to administrate your computer.

If you open Users & Groups, look at the list of users. If your user has admin privileges, it will say "admin" in the list under your username.


If yours is not admin capable, did you ever rename your account? If you do it incorrectly, you will lose your admin capability.
