microsoft excel

I can't turn off or restart my Mac because it says Excel is still open, I right light on the icon and force close but I'm still not able to turn the Mac off. I CRTL-Command-ESC and force close from there and it still doesn't work. And I'm not able to open the Excel application either

Press and hold the power button / Touch ID sensor until the Mac shuts off (~10 s), wait a few seconds then press it once briefly to boot up.
