How can I connect 2 monitors to MacBook Air M1?

Sorry to say there will not be an Apple solution. The M1 chip can drive just two displays total, one at up to 4K (that’s the internal one on notebooks, external on the Mini), the other an external up to 6K. This is a hardware limitation.

The only ‘solution’ that will come from Apple is a new chip (M1x, M2, whatever they call it) that will be used in newer models e.g. the Apple silicon 16” MBP.

I used dual HD displays at work for years. With COVID, I set up a home office with a single display, a 34” 5K:2K ultra wide. Gives me ample screen real estate, with no bezels dividing it up. But, it’s a much more expensive solution than a pair of HD displays.

Unfortunately, the M1 MacBook Airs only support one external display.

Only option is a DisplayLink adapter. Can be laggy, and macOS updates can bork it for a few weeks until new drivers come out.
