The Mac update MacOS Big Sur, change some settings. Before when open Finder or Mac Mail, the search field was expanded, ready to write something you want to search. With one click, the curser was in the search box, because the search field was expanded and was visible in the Menu Bar. After this update, the Finder and Mac Mail only show the icon of “magnifying glass” in the Menu Bar. And now you have to expand the search field with one click on the “magnifying glass”. And then you have to click the cursor into the field box, before you can write what you want to search.

This adds one more click to function. Why is that? Who designs this kind of thing? When making a new design you are supposed to make things more simple and easier to use.

Is there a way to get the search field back to normal, expanded, and with just one click to get the cursor into the search field, and ready to write.?

We are all other users here; this is not Apple support, so we do have no connection to Apple designers or engineers who decide what changes to make - sorry.
