Safari URL Autocomplete (mouse pointer problem)

How does this not annoy anyone? Or perhaps it does, but i'm not searching with the right keywords.

If you look carefully (sorry, I should have slowed down the GIF) ... I begin to type a URL, and then select from the second item in the list (with keyboard, for speed). However, the mouse pointer 80% of the time ends up hijacking my choice and Safari jumps back to the first URL in the list.

This annoys me to no end. Of course after clicking on the URL bar in the first place my mouse pointer will be left up there. No doubt there's no way around this, but I wonder if Apple even realise how bloody annoying this is.
