Cannot clear website data in Safari

When I try to clear website data for a specific site, Safari goes into a loop and never load whatever website data there is. See screenshot. I can clear all data but that's inconvenient. Used to be able to clear data for only a specific site. Anyone have any hints on how to solve this?

Well, it’s almost certainly not a bug since there are basically no other reports about this. I have one suggestion. Boot your Mac into ‘Safe’ mode by holding down the ‘Shift’ key after restarting. It could take up to ten minutes or more boot as safe mode performs a series of maintenance routines, including clearing caches, etc. Once in safe mode launch Safari and see if the issue is resolved. If so then restart into normal mode (don’t hold the shift key down) and check again.
