MacOS Big Sur bug - system preferences for key repeat speed keeps getting reset

They key repeat speed under system preferences keeps resetting itself to the default speed. I turn it off with the slider in system preferences because of the unresolved and ignored bug where the delete key fires multiple times, no matter how fast the tap is, and deletes multiple emails on a regular, but unpredictable basis.

Please make sure the system preferences for the key repeat speed is properly stored and retained after patches, upgrades and reboots. Thanks!

Boot into Safe Mode according to Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support and see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and check again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
